Japan. 1216. Hana and Kimi are delighted when their heroic uncle, Hidehira, arrives at their palace, along with his dashing army of Samurai soldiers. He is their father’s right hand man, a guardian and protector who helps him govern the land on behalf of the Shogun. So when Hidehira and his army slaughter their father and elder brothers, the girls are stunned. As the palace burns around them and servants are put to the sword, Hana and Kimi have to fight for their very survival. The whole country is searching for them – and anyone who helps them will be put to death. The girls must disguise themselves and find somewhere to hide out. And their solution is so daring – and so obvious – that it will either work brilliantly or end in their deaths.

A really exciting book – I enjoyed it even more than Young Samurai which was on the Red House list last year. The fact they’re girls doesn’t matter as most of the time they are in disguise. A real page turner.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.I think Maya Snow is Truly a very talented author. The idea of two girls being disguised as boys is brilliant.Sisters of the sword is one of the best books I’ve ever read and definately the best of the three that are being judged.

This is a brilliant book!!! On the front cover it looks girly but you should never judge a book by it’s cover.Anyway,I think it’s easy to follow and its literally unputdownable.I have never read a book by Maya snow, but this has made me want to read all of her books. My favourite part of the book is the beginning, even though it is very gory I still like it and I like the whole storyline of the girls getting their vengeance!!! Everyone should vote for this book because it is definitely the best of the 3!!!
I agree with Charlie as in ‘never judge a book by its cover’ because people think Sisters of the Sword will be all girly: in fact this book is probably more suited to boys/tomboys. When the school librarian first suggested this book, I was a bit sceptical about it. In the beginning of it, you feel as if it is dragging on a bit. Later on in the story though you will find it a quick read. Blood and gore in a book may sound a bit too heavy but I actually am in favour of it. This by far is my number one book. I have only read the first book in the series and am hoping to read the others. The fact that ‘Maya Snow’ is not just one author but a group really inspires me that they can collaborate so well. I am looking forward to visiting the award ceremony to ask a representative how they do it. I hope this book wins!
This incredible book is an outstanding example of the old customs of the Japanese Samaria of the past. It is about two ill-fated sisters whose unfortunate father – the shogun- is slain by his brother who then attempts to take control of the lands. They also lose their little brother and their mother. They must disguise themselves and fight to defend themselves from the wrath of their mighty uncle and his fearsome Samaria soldiers.
My favourite part of this fantastic novel is the start of the story because it is always on a cliff-hanger and it builds emphasis. Although the cover looks rather feminine, the actual story is quite suitable for all readers.
I would recommend this excellent tale to any readers over the age of 8 and rate it 9/10. I urge you all to vote for this book because I find it is the best of the three.
I Really enjoyed this book.I agree with Charlie and Roodi, that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I thought that this book was going to be really boring, but I actually really liked this book. I think Maya Snow is a really great writer, she has got lots of talent. I would recommend this excellent book to readers over the age of 10 and I would rate this book 8/10.

I think this book is incredible and I agree with roodi and Charlie to ‘not judge a book by its cover’. People will asume by the cover that it is a girl book, But when you start to read it and get to the part when the two girls run away from there home because people Are looking for them to kill them,Its starts to feel like a boyish/tomboy book,But girly girls can read it to as i strongly recomend This book for anyone who is dying for an adventure book.
The book I liked best was Sisters of the sword by Maya Snow. At first when I saw this book i Didn’t think I would like it but then when I started reading it, it started become really interesting. Ireally enjoyed this book from start to finish and whenever I put it down I wanted to know what was goin to happend next. I would recommend it to both girls and boys (but mostly girls) aged from 10 to 13. It was a really good book and it is different from other books, I really would recommend you this book if you want something different to other books or to what you normally read, so off you go and read read read!
The sisters of the sword was really good although I heard all my friends sayng they didn’t like it. I tried the book out and found it to be a book of twists and turns. As i type up this review I hear my friends say cosmics better and objections saying crt-z
Really I would say that this book really gave a sense of truth about the way that china is run. The book is really based upon the hardship of being a twin and living without your family. This is a really good subject for the author to write upon, as in reality there are many children out there who live in these difficult situation in china and other countries. Maya Snow brings adventure to a story about love and family. 10/10
I really enjoyed sisters of the sword because it was about girls pretending to be boy warriors. They only pretended to be boys was because they didn’t believe in girls to be warriors as much as they did for boys because they are braver, stronger and a lot smarter (as some people say).
In ‘Sisters of the Sword’ I love the idea of the old fashioned Japanese samurai soldiers and boy’s only judos.
I enjoyed the blood murdering beginning as they sneak from room to room I felt like a third sister, faced with a matter of life or death, I heard the swords being drawn from the their sheaths and screams of dying servants. Once they were out of the palace little do I realise they are being followed; but when they find the loving letter from their mother and brother I feel so much better for them and they must have been almost comforted.
The battle is so amazingly described I was almost sucked into the story and transported back in time, and as the swords soared through the moon light air I hide under my duvet at home. When they pretend to be boys and see their cousin I felt like their plan would fail and I wanted to cry for them, but he did not reckon on them being big headed and selfish. Which made me want to cry because they thought he was kind and generous.
All in all I think this is a thrilling read and is amazing to keep you hooked, so if you’re looking for a book this is a good choice. Plus it is easy to follow and is very entertaining because there are lots of scary and shocking moments!

After reading Sisters of the sword, i have realised that boys aren’t the only ones who can fight for survival and that girls are as much powerful as boys.
When i first saw its cover, i thought that it would be a book just for girls. However, when reading the first page, my mind sank into every word and phrase written on that paper. I could imagine Hana and Kimi fighting bravely. This book is very thrilling and the most intresting book i have ever seen. I dont think that it could be written in any other perfect way.
I think that this book was brilliant, as it contains such real life situations, that you feel like you are really inside the book! The follow up to the book is great too, so I really recommend that you read that too. I think that this book deserves to win, as Kimi and Hana are great characters, and the writer should be rewarded.
I think the front cover put me off as it was pink and when I started to read it, it was a bit confusing and boring.
I think that ‘Sisters of the Sword’ is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book when it was explaining about the house because in my head I could really imagine how it looked. I really enjoye the beginning when they were slipping room to room it felt as if they were on a mission of spies. Also I think that as I was reading the book I slowly started to get really interested in it. It is a wonderful book which will hook you up until the end of the story.
Overall it is a great book
Sisters of the Sword is a pretty good book. It draws you in from the very first page and its very hard to put it down. I felt really sorry for the sisters when their family is attacked, and felt their horror and desperation as they tried to escape their burning home. The book has a lot of twists that might not be expected, and the reader feels as if they are in the book, moving as and when the sisters move, feeling their every emotion.
It’s a pretty scary book that leaves you wanting more.
I think Sisters of the Sword – The Warrior’s Path should win because most books that are long only drag you on and on and you only read it because you have to, but this book was different in it’s own way. This book got right to the point and didn’t go on about things you didn’t care. I also thing this book is great because although it gave you a lot of description it left some space in your mind for you to visualize the scene and the characters and the surroundings. Although, the book was talking about people so far away from me I had the feeling that I was right there watching every little thing Kimi and Hana did from the big smile they would give to the invisible tear dropping down there face. I had the feeling that I was taking part in the action, maybe not in the book but in my own mind. Many people would say that when you read a book more than ones you would get bored but this book was special, it gave you the opportunity to over read and maybe imagine the scene differently. I mostly liked the end as the writer left you with an open mouth waiting for another piece the big puzzle that was forming.
In conclusion, I think this will be one of the best books I will ever read and this phrase is a big thing to say as I have a long way to go until I can’t read anymore.

I think that Sisters of the Sword-warriors path is a fantastic book. It is well written and Maya Snow has done a great job of leaving each end of the chapters sharp and exciting. I would encourage any person who is lost finding a book to read to pick up this one!!This book is great for any readers but especially for people wanting excitement, drama, cliffhangers, slight fantasy and a hint of horrer. I have strongly chosen this book to be my winner and hopefully the winner of the book awards as from when I started that book, it was so good that my body, mind and imagination WOULD NOT let me put it down!!
Sisters of the sword didn’t look like a book I would like to read(from the cover) but it was okay.At the beginning it was a bit boring and towards the end it got better with more action.
I that that Sisters of Ther Sword is an fantastic book. At first I didn’t think I would like it as I read books witha little bit mystery in.It has adventure and a little bit of horror. I would recomend this book to boys and girls, as it does not have that much horror, it is mostly adventure and lots to. I really like the thilling chapters, I could hardly put the book down. I can’t wait to read the next few books in series. The book has a well needed cliff hanger. I think that Sisters of The Sword should win this years book awards.
I think sisters of the sord is an fantastic book. It is an book with adventure and horror. I would recomend it to boys and girls as it does not have that much horror. I thought the front cover looked quite boyish. However it turned out to be an book for either. I couldn’t barly put this book down.I think this book is as good as last years winner, storm runner, which was also adventurous. I really think Sisters of the sword will win this years book award.
This book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
It was not anything like I had expected, and it isn’t at all like the usual books I read. This book was different from the other two books as it is in some ways more for elder readers, but at the same time is fascinating for the younger generation. The book was insightful and let us in on what life used to be like in the particular area of Japan they were talking about, which was very interesting. Sisters Of The Sword – The Warrior’s Path was intriguing and I loved it from beginning to end. Maya Snow used alot of discriptive writing which totally enhanced every second of the read & added excitement and an intense atmosphere all the way from when Kimi and Hana’s uncle attacked their father to when Ken-ichi stabbed Master Goku. I loved this book and hope there are more to them because I will deffinitely read them! I hope this books wins, as it sure deserves to!
It is a really good book because it is all about two girls on a hunt to find their parents and their uncle killed one of there sisters and one of their brothers and their father.
I think that the characters were described well and that children from year 5 and upwards will love the book. It is not that thick and it is exciting.
Sisters of the sword was a very imaginative book. The author deserves to win and I would definitely reccomend it to anyone who likes fun packed stories. Maya Snow is in my top ten favourite authour if she wins the book awards I will be over the moon.I hope she brings out more!

I think the sisters of the sword is the best because it
gives you a feeling that you are in the book. I would give it 8 out of 10 because of the non-stop action!!!
I like the way she wrote it however some parts got a little confusing! I liked how it shows the grandad playing a good part at the beginning then shows his true colours at the middle and end. I found it a little boring at the start but it got better.

I really liked Sisters of the sword because it had lots of action and violence but I didn’t mind that…I think that children in year 5 and above will really enjoy it!
I really liked the Character Hana she was very creative and didn’t mind fighting against her Uncle to find her parents, in order to do that she needed a lot of help with her sister to survive! It would not have been my first choice but I liked it and understood it well, that’s the main thing.
I recommend you having this book it is the best book ever…You might not think its big and exciting but inside…it is!

My favourite part was when I heard someone was getting a sword.
My best character was the dad, he was really nice.
The scary part was when the dad was murdered.
I loved ‘Sisters of the Sword’, it was brilliant. This isn’t much different than usual but I couldn’t put it down! the story line, characters, places, everything was so vivid. I think I’m a lot like Kimi, I think I’m a lot like hre sister too but I can be rather head strong and determined like Kimi. At first I thought the book wasn’t really that good but at about chapter three, I had already changed my mind. I honestly think that, in this book, there is always a character you can relate too. Once you have had chance to sit down and read it non stop, you realise that you just melted into the pages of the book, that you are there watching every move they make. I loved it so much I bought ‘Sisters of the Sword, Blades Edge’! I would definately give ‘Sisters of the Sword’ 12 out of 10.
